As part of Gypsum’s ongoing research, a new surface finish for concrete has been developed. The essence of this product lies in a direct encounter with concrete in its raw form, achieving an expressive approach that captures the primal, unfiltered essence of the material.
In the Moon collection, the skin of the material starts to find a voice as the wax-like vibration of the base surface offsets the brutality of the three-dimensional element in each tile. The result is a deeply textural collection in which the full character is only expressed in a dialogue with light.
Moon is a wall-covering collection suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

AQUIS

When Marmi Regina contacted me, I had the opportunity to see the wide variety of stone materials they work with and the precision of their craftsmanship. Their technical expertise is of a high standard, and attention to detail is fundamental to their approach. The company expressed a desire to create small-scale furnishing objects that could showcase the potential of their production. With this project, Marmi Regina aimed to demonstrate their ability to seamlessly combine different stone materials into a single piece.

I was particularly struck by onyx, by its translucent quality and the way it interacts with light. This characteristic could become the focal point of its interaction with another stone. In fact, the thinner the onyx, the more transparent it becomes.

This led to the idea of using onyx as if it were a “liquid”: pairing it with marble, starting from a certain thickness and gradually tapering to zero. The visual effect resembles that of a beach seen from above: offshore, the sea is a deep blue, becoming progressively lighter as it approaches the shore, until it turns transparent.

Thus Aquis was born, a tray crafted from Calacatta marble and green onyx.

BLOCCO

Architecture is once again the starting point: the linguistic reference consists of exposed walls and, the use of exposed brickwork in particular.
We took a pure, unpretentious approach, focusing on one of the typical expressive characters of architecture, above all in Italy.
Our collection for vertical surfaces is more than the reproduction of a simple wall, it is almost a “display” of stacked bricks. The decision to use “fractured” bricks gives the wall a constantly changing vibrant presence in the interplay between material, light and shadow. The Blocco collection is dirt-resistant and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

ÁGUAS

Listening to the song “Águas de Março” (by Elis Regina and Tom Jobim) which talks about autumn rains, we thought about how surfaces can change in the rain: the ground deforms with the pattering of the water drops and changes its texture; what was previously opaque slowly becomes shiny and reflective. In particular, just when it starts to rain, the first drops of water draw a very beautiful graphic pattern, which however is destined to last only a few seconds.

X and X

This collection is the result of the recovery of one of the most characteristic elements of the architectural scenario of the 20th century: precast concrete.
Designers such as Pier Luigi Nervi, Kenzo Tange as well as Angelo Mangiarotti knew how to use this technology wisely, creating works that are still considered avant-garde today. An autonomous expressive language developed in this context, giving rise to characteristic features inextricably linked to the material and the construction method.
Of these, stiffening ribs are among the most fascinating.
X and X is a collection of three-dimensional concrete tiles that captures the linguistic element of ribbing and reinterprets it in decorative terms. Thus, it is a tribute to 20th-century concrete architecture and its masters.
This collection is especially dedicated to vertical coverings, resistant to dirt and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

CAMEO

Gypsum concrete has a special feature: it is perceived as a soft, rich and
velvet-like material.
Geometry, texture and colour of this collection are perfectly combined together to enhance this ensemble of visual and tactile sensations.
Cameo is a celebration of Gypsum’s high performance concrete, which not only has significant technical characteristics, but also subtle and delicate qualities capable of involving more than one sensory aspects of the observer.
The name of the project refers to the finely crafted gems used since ancient times: the three-dimensional elements, thanks to the different ways in which they are struck by light, create chiaroscuro effects that enrich the environment.
The collection, available in 4 colours, can be used on walls and floors, both indoors and outdoors.

CAEMENTUM

Caementum is characterized by an intrinsically delicate geometry.
Everything started from a new conception of the material used, from the desire to give concrete a new visual language made of velvety surfaces and gentle details. A series of peculiarities generally not associated with a product made with this material.
It’s a single-piece concrete table with a central base designed specifically for the outdoors. The addition of carefully selected additives makes the highly resistant material guarantee excellent technical performance, including ease of cleaning, greater resistance to mechanical stresses and weathering, and low permeability to liquids and stains.
The base also comes with a nylon foot so as not to damage the surfaces it comes into contact with, while the inside is hollow to make it easier to move. Caementum is designed to create various compositions, and can adapt to any context, especially outdoors, both in public and residential settings. The material is integrally colored with natural oxides that guarantee an unalterable appearance over time, even in conditions of prolonged exposure to sun, frost or salt mist.

MINIMUM

Minimum is the first collection of three-dimensional concrete tiles made by Gypsum.
Minimal Art, meant as a reduction to elementary geometric structures both in the artistic field and – in a broader sense – in the architectural field, is the expressive language that has guided this project.
In this collection we wanted to seamlessly merge matter and light: the same wall may seem lightweight, delicate, or dense and deep, depending on the light that changes through the day and the seasons.
We carried out a research by subtraction, focused on light, form and volume, on the rhythmic repetition of solids and voids, to create something primitive and, at the same time, exciting. The technique of working with cement has allowed us to obtain geometries that are difficult to achieve with other materials. Minimum is a collection resistant to dirt and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

LIBERA

When we talked to Elmar about the idea of making a concrete kitchen for outdoors, we had a clear goal of creating an object with an autonomous language, therefore far from those products – already on the market – in which concrete had simply been replaced to other materials.
We wanted a kitchen that relates to people like an open architecture, made of transparency and in osmosis with the surrounding environment: therefore not a full volume, but a filter that lets the surrounding light and colors pass through.
The relationship with the external architectural spaces and in particular with the vegetation was of fundamental importance, in order to enjoy the sweetness of convivial pleasures and life in the open air.
We had in mind shelves, a light, the possibility of integrating plants.
The modernist architecture of the mid-twentieth century was the natural reference from which to start: exposed load-bearing structures in metal and prefabricated concrete infill walls.
These are the two basic elements that make up the kitchen.
The result is a product in which the function of each element is easily recognizable and where the aesthetic result is in harmony with the material used.
The cement chosen is completely eco-friendly and provides a water-based and emission-free production cycle.
The result is an overall strong and elegant graphic image at the same time.
Following this philosophy, even the construction system, transport and assembly are simplified.
Libera is a kitchen conceived as an architecture in steel and concrete, suitable for outdoor use, in which is visible the attention given to details, which give it domestic qualities.

The collection goes on and enriches of several pieces that can coexist in multiple combinations or can be used individually:

a wall-mounted, column-mounted or over countertop washbasin
a washbasin support column
a shelf, which also acts as a countertop top for the sink
a shower plate
a slatted shower tray
a shower column
a hose holder for garden irrigation

A collection made in concrete that strengthens the collaboration with Agape. The material had to respect the high standards of the company catalogue: we proposed Cementoskin^®, new type of concrete, resistant to dirt and with unique aesthetic features, the result of a long research by Gypsum. The entire collection is inspired by the soft and natural finish of this material. Water flows on smooth surfaces, gently inclined like those of a stone, polished by the elements of nature.
Petra is a project suitable for both outside, from large gardens to small terraces, and for the more usual indoor situations.
