A large, oversized armchair that metaphorically welcomes all travelers of our time. When travelers arrive in a new place, they sit down, rest, and observe. In doing so, they enrich themselves and carry the uniqueness of the cultures they discover out into the world.
La poltrona del viaggiatore (The Traveler’s Armchair) represents this moment. It also becomes a symbol of an Italian manufacturing company opening up to the global stage, showcasing its uniqueness and beauty.
The installation is realized by Gypsum, a company that has made material research and high craftsmanship its core strengths. It has developed a high-performance concrete that is weather-resistant, washable, and pigmented throughout with natural oxides. The “blanket” of tiles draped over the armchair is made from this innovative material.
Concrete is a material very different from the nature of a blanket, but all it takes is to look with a fresh perspective — the kind of perspective travelers have.

We are pleased to present all the concrete tiles collections we designed for Gypsum, with a focus on the new collections: BLOCCO, inspired by exposed brick walls; and X and X, the result of the recovery of one of the most characteristic elements of the architectural scenario of the 20th century, which are precast concrete and the use of stiffening ribs.

We wanted to focus on the four materials that characterize the production of Gypsum: plaster, polystyrene, concrete, cast stone. We presented them in an open, neutral architectural space, without specific objects for each material, but with conceptual compositions that highlight the material itself.

A large industrial space designed to exhibit materials, products, processes, and to organize meetings with customers and distributors. We wanted to create an exhibition that was not rigid, and that could change continuously following the rapid evolution of the company`s products.

We focused our attention on Cementobasic®, Cementolight® and Cementoskin®, three different types of high-performance concrete, a new generation of architecture and design surfaces for both private and public areas.
These materials are the result of a multi-year research by Gypsum, together with the art direction work by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato.
We must thank our friend artist Roberto Cambi who loaned us his Plane project.

Gypsum was born in the `70s, under the impulse of passion for plaster decorations. Now they manufacture plaster, laminated polystyrene and high performance concrete products to create indoor and outdoor architectural and industrial design elements.
We worked to conceive a very architectural space, clean and simple, where to show their solutions for decoration, architecture and scenography together with several videos of the most beautiful works they made with these materials.

Agape12`s concept lies in the fusion between a furniture and accessories store and a dedicated area for creating and developing ideas.
A large selection of companies are involved in the 850 sqm of display space in the heart of Brera.
This store collects in one place the showrooms of some of the most interesting firms of contemporary design world, offering to clients and visitors the possibility of a direct and priveleged contact with the partnering brands.

Together with the Agape staff, we designed for Gypsum the surfaces of some areas using our Pigmenti collection.

Zurigo, recently re-edited by Fratelli Guzzini, is the suspension lamp designed in 1966 by Luigi Massoni for the company: three quarters of sphere with enveloping volumes, which will establish a standard formal inspiration for other designers.
In Curves, the installation by Marco Merendi and Diego Vencato in the Entrance Porch of the Courtyard of Honor, the lamps Zurigo are presented superimposed and suspended to form 4 monochrome chandeliers.
This compositions, together with the light desired by the two designers, are designed to highlight the geometry of Zurigo and to make it dialogues with the architectural space. There are also some floor displays that tell the story path taken by Fratelli Guzzini in the world of lighting. A path which includes Soirée, the new project signed by Merendi and Vencato: a rechargeable and portable LED lamp, which is the ideal junction between the history and the future of the Italian company.
